Hardware Description
The ACS550 is available in two mounting configurations. A brief description and
photo are provided below to facilitate model selection and understanding of what is
offered with each standard product.

The ACS550-U1 is a wall-mountable drive and is available from 0.75 to
100 HP in 230V and to 150 HP in 480V input voltages. The ACS550-U1 has six frame sizes (R1 to R6).
The ACS550-U1 is available in a standard UL Type 1 (NEMA 1) or optional UL Type 12 (NEMA 12)
enclosure and has a control panel for user interface, parameter adjustment and drive operation
mounted on the front of the drive. The front section of the ACS550-U1 contains the electronics,
power and control wire terminals. The rear section forms a cooling channel. The two section
construction allows the unit to be installed protruding through a wall, or through the rear wall of a
customer supplied enclosure using additional hardware, placing the rear section in a cooling air duct
to minimize the heat inside the cabinet. In standard installations, the drive is mounted directly onto
a wall and uses the provided conduit box. Conduit openings (knock-outs) are provided for bottom
and side conduit entry. For mounting inside a customer supplied cabinet, the conduit box may be
removed. R1 and R2 frames have built-in braking choppers. |

This product is available from 150 to 550 HP for 480V input power. It is designed to be a
free-standing floor mount enclosure. It is available in a standard UL Type 1 (NEMA 1) enclosure and
is provided with a through the door interlocked, fusible disconnect switch, lockable in the off
position. A control panel for user interface, parameter adjustment and drive operation is provided on
the front of the drive enclosure. Cooling air intake and exhaust vents are covered with grates to
keep out unwanted objects. Input power and motor leads enter through the top of the drive. A US
conduit plate is provided as standard. A common mode filter is provided on drives larger than 250
horsepower. |

| This product is available from 200 through 550 horsepower for 480V input power. It is designed to
be a free-standing floor-mount enclosure. It is available in a standard UL Type 1 (NEMA 1) enclosure
and has a control panel for user interface, parameter adjustment and drive operation mounted on
the front of the enclosure. Cooling air intake and exhaust vents are covered with grates to keep out
unwanted objects. As standard, input power and motor leads enter and exit through the bottom of
the drive in a unique cabling pedestal that provides for drive removal without removal of the cables.
A common mode filter is provided as standard for drives rated 250 Hp or larger. A US conduit plate is
provided as standard. |
